due to my poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle.
Fast forward only six months and I am in the best

“I was putting in countless hours at the gym doing treadmill workouts and weights trying to work off
baby weight, but wasn’t reaching my fitness goals. In January, 2011, I turned to TUFF owner/trainer
John Duncan to help me reach my weight loss goals.
I committed to taking boot camp classes at least twice a week and Johnny helped me with a nutritional
program as well. The work was hard, but I noticed a difference in my body and energy levels in the first
few weeks. Within 6 months of working with Johnny, I dropped 30 pounds, regained my energy, and
my biggest achievement…..fitting back into my “pre” baby clothes.

Claudia and I are professional swing dance teachers based in Montreal. The vintage style of Swing dancing we do, Lindy Hop, is extremely acrobatic, and it seems that Claudia spends half of her time dancing in the air. We travel the world to perform, compete, and teach this dance, but we find ourselves time and again coming back to Nashua, NH to train at TUFF! The programs that John puts together have kept us in shape, healthy, and injury free for the last 3 years. I started training at TUFF to get in tip top Bride shape for my November 2011 wedding. I went to John with a history full of body dysmorphia and 10+ years of eating disorders. I had worked with trainers in the past, but none with the extensive knowledge and expertise that John encompasses. After one workout at TUFF, I knew that it was what I needed. We worked together toward my goals of A. fitting into my sample size wedding gown that was too tight, and B. finding peace with my body by eating the right foods and working out the right way for maximum results. After just a few short months, my wedding day arrived. I fit right into my dress with no alterations, and felt confident and beautiful. John really helped me with my white gown goals, but in actuality, helped me realize that my body is strong and powerful, and that I should be proud of myself.

I started working out with John Duncan back in 2004. He helped me get in shape
before I left to join the military. After a few short months in the gym with him, I was stronger
and faster than I had ever been in my life. John helped push and motivate me to the
point where I was excelling in every aspect of physical fitness.
As a united states navy seal, I am expected to be in peak physical shape on and off the
job. Whenever I come back home on leave (which is usually for 2-3 weeks at a time) the
first person I contact is John to see when I can jump in on classes.
I attend TUFF’s CrossFit and bootcamp classes at least 3 times a week in addition to one-on-one sessions with
John to keep up my workouts while I’m visiting. The best part about the classes is the
variety of the exercises. The workouts are never the same and each experience is
challenging. Each individual there can work at their own levels. Another great
aspect is, that with John’s motivating, I am able to move at my own pace and push
myself to exceed my own abilities. I never leave with a dry spot on my shirt.
When I am back home in San Diego, CA, I model my
workouts based on what I have learned from John. Keeping the fast pace movements and
variety of exercises keeps my heart pumping and
works every part of my body. I am proud to
say that it has kept my body in the proper shape it
needs to be in while training on the job. Military
life is very demanding and in my opinion and part of
professional conduct as an operator means being
capable to go above and beyond physical standards.

Johnny D’s TUFF is exactly what I would trust to
keep me that way.

I started working out at TUFF in January of 2010 in the middle of my 30 lb weight loss journey.  I had already started better eating habits and was hitting the gym regularly, but I had hit a plateau where I was no longer challenged or seeing further results.  I had a friend who was going to TUFF and gave fantastic reviews so I decided to try it out.  After my very first visit I was hooked, and continued to go back at least 2-3 times a week.  Within 2 months of my first visit I had lost the last 10-15 pounds and had more importantly shed over 10% body fat.  I decided from there to compete in my very first figure show, where I placed twice.

Two years later I’m still competing in shows, and am still going to TUFF as my home gym.  The coaches there understand and care about their members fitness goals and always brings new workouts that are not only different and challenging but also fun!  I would highly recommend this gym to anyone I know.

Jaime Parsons, new mom!

I started training with Johnny back in 2009 when he opened TUFF. I did regular one-on-one training with him as well as attending Boot Camp classes on my off days.  Not only did I experience a whole new style of training, but was educated on proper nutrition and how to stick to a healthy diet. In one year I was in the best shape of my life. My body became very lean and tight, especially my core muscles.

In May 2010 I found out I was expecting my first child. Since I was use to working out so vigorously, my Doctor thought I should continue exercising, so I continued training with John.  Because of his extensive knowledge and expertise, I had total trust in him.  Johnny trained me up until 2 days before I had my beautiful, healthy and strong baby girl. I started training again 6 weeks after she was born.  It’s now been almost 7 months since her birth and I have my figure back and I’m even stronger then before.  Thanks Johnny for all your help.

Bill Cosentino, Merrimack High School Boys Lacrosse

I contacted John about getting my high school lacrosse players into TUFF. I shared with him the need for the boys to become physically stronger and faster, but I also noticed a need for them to be pushed extremely hard together towards a common goal. As young athletes I was also concerned about their eating habits. John assured me that by working with him he could make the boys warriors! One month into CrossFit and the boys who are participating are noticeably faster and stronger. John has measurable goals for the boys to meet and they can actually see their progress. What I love about John is his ability to actually “teach” how to properly lift and take care of your body. He spent a lot of time making sure the boys’ form and technique were proper so they wouldn’t hurt themselves. In addition to that, he set up a nutritional seminar for the boys and their parents to explain the importance of eating the right kinds of foods. This experience has been amazing because I have been able to workout side by side with my athletes, having them push me and me push them, and watching them support and encourage each other. We are excited to begin the second month of training and it’s safe to say that I will be recommending that my athletes train at CrossFit TUFF from now on. Thanks John!
